The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has enacted legislation mandating carbon monoxide detectors for all residential dwellings. The rules governing this regulatory requirement are now in effect and compliance is required by all homeowners, landlords, and property managers as of March 31, 2006. To assist REALTORS® and their clients in understanding the law, MAR has produced a series of fact sheets to guide you through the compliance process. More specific questions should be directed to your personal attorney, or authorized callers may contact the MAR Legal Hotline, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 800-370-5342.
